Riding the Splat Thunder: A Big Guy’s Perspective
Hey there, it’s Tim, and I’ve recently had the pleasure of putting the Splat Thunder electric scooter to the test. This isn’t my first encounter with Splat, as they sent me their second version to try out. Join me as I share my experience and whether this scooter gets the “big guy approved” stamp.
Powerful Performance:
The Splat Thunder boasts twin 800W motors, peaking at an impressive 1200W each, giving you a total of 2400W. With a 52V system and a 15.6 amp-hour battery, it’s got the power and range for zipping around the city effortlessly.
Key Features That Stand Out:
I’m loving the 9-inch by 3-inch puncture-resistant tires, providing a smooth ride over bumps. The combination of mechanical and electronic brakes, with adjustable settings, gives you control over your braking style. Plus, it’s got a weight limit of 265 lbs, perfect for us bigger riders.
Convenience and Portability:
Weighing in at about 60 lbs, the Splat Thunder folds up neatly, making it a breeze to carry and store. The design even considers nighttime visibility when folded, with an aluminum-wrapped rear light.
Performance Highlights:
Curious about speed? The Splat Thunder effortlessly hit 50 mph during my test rides. The lighting system is a winner for nighttime adventures, with indicators and a powerful front light at just the right height.
Handlebar Comfort and Display:
The handlebar height is comfortable for me, but I’d caution taller riders as it might be a bit low. The full-color display provides all the essential info, from speed to battery levels.
Innovative Features:
Ever lost your scooter? Splat has a hidden compartment for an Apple AirTag, a nifty way to keep track of your ride. Tire replacement is a breeze too, thanks to a quick-release system that took me only 8 minutes.
User Experience Insights:
I’ll admit, out of the box, I had to tweak the settings to tone down the aggressiveness. It’s a powerful machine, tearing up hills without breaking a sweat. The initial flat tire mishap was on me, but the quick replacement process impressed me.
Final Verdict – Big Guy Approved:
The Splat Thunder is a winner in my book. It’s got the power, comfort, and thoughtful design features that make it stand out among electric scooters. Whether you’re a big guy like me or just someone looking for an affordable and potent ride, the Splat Thunder is worth considering.
So, if you spot me cruising around Victoria on the Splat Thunder, don’t hesitate to say hello. And remember, it’s not just approved—it’s big guy approved! Cheers, fellow riders!
